Abstract session descriptions


For the first ever fully-online ECCMID, we are excited to bring you multiple exciting session types for the abstract programme, including some innovative new formats!

 

1-hour Oral Session

Five abstracts will be presented live, moderated by two chairs appointed by the Programme Committee.

Each of the five speakers will have 10 minutes to present their abstract. This is followed by a 10-minute discussion at the end to conclude the session.

 

1-hour Mini-oral Flash

Ten abstracts will be presented via a recording, moderated by two chairs appointed by the Programme Committee.

Each of the ten abstract presenters will record a four minute presentation for their abstract. At the end of the session there will be a live Q and A discussion with all of the abstract presenters.

 

1.5-hour Oral Session -NEW

Seven abstracts will be presented live, moderated by two chairs appointed by the Programme Committee.

Each of the seven speakers will have ten minutes to present their abstract. This is followed by a 20-minute discussion at the end to conclude the session.

 

1-hour Oral Case Session - NEW

The 31st ECCMID will feature case sessions in the following topics:

  • Viral infection & disease (excl. COVID-19)
  • Bacterial infection & disease
  • Diagnostic bacteriology & general microbiology
  • Fungal infection & disease
  • Parasitic diseases & international health
  • COVID-19

Each of these case sessions will feature five speakers presenting their case reports. The case session will be moderated by a chair selected by the Programme Committee.

ePoster Sessions

Abstracts accepted to be presented as ePosters will be grouped into sessions according to their topic and subcategory. Abstracts will also denote whether it is a Case study with a *CASE" tag (orange), a top rated poster with a ribbon (green), and if they have a desginated presentation time (blue). A selected number of ePosters will be selected to be part of the 30min. and 1-hour ePoster review sessions (see below).

30 min. and 1-hour ePoster Review – NEW

The 31st ECCMID will feature ePoster review sessions. These sessions will be hosted by moderator(s) selected from the Programme Committee. – The authors of the abstracts presented in these sessions are invited and encouraged to attend. The presentation of the session, will be conducted by the moderator.

The 30-minute ePoster review sessions will feature 10 selected posters, in which the moderator will present for 20 minutes. This is then followed by a 10-minute discussion to conclude the session.

The 1-hour ePoster review sessions will feature 20 selected posters, in which two moderators will each have 20 minutes to present the posters. This is then followed by a 20-minute discussion to conclude the session.

The authors of the ePoster(s) selected for the review sessions will be informed of their inclusion closer to the congress dates.
